I figured I would try to make some type of universal mounts for the electronics that would easily fit into the real mummy sarcophagus should I ever get the game off eBay. I contacted Richard and explained briefly what I was hoping to accomplish and asked him if he could get some measurements from the real game. He said that he would be glad to help and I sent him a diagram of the measurements I would need. It was quite extensive. He graciously asked if a real sarcophagus from the game would help as he had one that was all stripped down. This would speed thing up drastically. He sent it at his own expense and wouldn’t accept any money or even a deposit. Considering what I saw these going for on eBay at the time I found this amazing. I had only spoken to Richard through email twice and here he was spending his own money to ship a valuable item to me. I could tell that this was a fellow dreamer excited about a game from his past and more than willing to help someone share that experience and excitement.
I told myself that if I was able to get this to work I would order an extra controller board and put it together for Richard’s stripped-down sarcophagus as I sure couldn’t have done it without his help.
This is how my adventure went resurrecting the 1971 Voice of the Mummy for 2017.

Resurrecting the 1971 Voice of the Mummy 2017
This adventure started around April 27, 2017. I received an email from Richard who runs the "The Mummy Shop" and developed the voiceofthemummy.com web site. He had done a search on the web and my "Skull Tower" web site was in the search results. Richard had written to tell me that he was surprised that I had finished the project in 2015 and here it was almost 2 years later before he stumbled across it. He was very interested and said that he read through the site and it made a very good late night read as he was also a Dark tower fan and asked about linking to my site from his. I replied and told him that would be great to help spread the word.
That evening I went to his web site and read all about the Voice of the Mummy game that his site was based on. I had seen the game listed on other gamming sites but hadn't paid too much attention to it.
The game overview from voiceofthemummy.com:
“The game takes place in an ancient Pharoah's Tomb which has a three level pathway scattered with jewels. Directed by the VOICE, the Explorers travel up the steps, collecting jewels, to be the first to arrive at the MUMMY to receive the GREAT JEWEL -- but also the EVIL COBRA "SPELL".
Once an Explorer gets the great jewel and the spell, the record is flipped over for more danger and excitement. Still controlled by the VOICE, Explorers, in a mad scramble to avoid the Explorer that is attempting to "GET RID OF THE SPELL", try to get out of the Pharoah's Tomb with the most value of jewels to win the game.”
After visiting his site and reading how much time and effort Richard had spent putting together the site and how he had figured out all of the repairs to restore this game and had even modified the firmware on an MP3 player to simulate the record player built in to the game I was hooked. I wanted to play the game!.
I spent the next few weeks trying to get a broken game off of eBay but even the broken ones were claiming a premium price and I was constantly being out bid. I finally decided that I would have to do what I did with Skull Tower and just build my own from Lego bricks and do some custom electronics to make it all work.
